Five important things for Pet Relocation

  1. PET IMPORT LAW

It is very important to understand the pet import laws in the UAE. 

  • Per person, only two pets are allowed to travel with import permit for each.
  • Importing any pet has to be shipped in manifested cargo as per International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations. pet_relocation5Pets cannot travel with the owner as access baggage or in-cabin.
  • Pets less than 27weeks old from some specific countries, where there are high numbers of cases of rabies cannot enter the UAE. The minimum age of an imported animal from the low-risk countries will be 15 weeks in a condition that his age not less than 12 weeks when vaccinated.

2. PROHIBITED BREED OF DOGS

  • The following breeds of dogs are prohibited to be imported into UAE.
  • All Kinds of Pit Bull
  • Japanese Tosa (TosaInu; Tosa Fighting Dog)
  • Argentinian Fighting Dog (Dogo Argentino; Argentinian Mastiff)
  • Brazilian Fighting Dog (Fila Brasileiro; Brazilian Mastiff)
  • Wolf Dog Hybrid ( Any dog mixed with a wolf)
  • American Staffordshire terrier.

3. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  • A valid import permit must be obtained from concerned authorities in UAE. (validity of this permit 30 days from the date of issue) These documents required before traveling to the UAE.
  • Original Certificate for Rabies Serum Neutralization test (RSNT) – conducted within the 90 days prior to travel attesting a minimum titer of 0.5IU/ml or above. (This certificate is not required from the listed countries below: Australia, Austria, Andorra, Aruba, Barbados, Bahrain, Belgium, Comoros, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, French Polynesia, Falkland Island, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Mauritius, Malta, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, San Marino, Seychelles, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, Vanuatu)
  • Owner’s passport copy: Pet owner’s documents are very important for a pet import. A scanned copy of the owner’s passport, UAE residence visa, and Emirates ID required when you apply for a pet import permit.

4. PET HEALTH DOCUMENTS

  1. Original Vaccination card or animal passport
    • Includes pet microchip,
    • Date of birth, the validity of treatments,
    • Rabies vaccination and other vaccinations recordpet_relocation
  2. Valid original official health certificate from the exporting country
    • Illustrates pet identification. Microchip and that the animal has been examined and show satisfactory health symptoms
